History of Texas Holdem
Texas Holdem Poker is more popular now then it has ever been and it is also the most played Poker game. No one is really sure where Texas Holdem Poker came from but according to legend the first game was played in the early 1900's in Robstown - Texas. Texas Holdem became very popular because of The World Series of Poker Tournament. It started in 1970 at the Horseshoe in Down Town Las Vegas. Every year since the opening of The World Series of Poker Tournament more and more people are playing Texas Holdem every year and there are also more ad more Poker Tournaments being developed all over the world.
Texas Holdem is a community card game, each player can use the 5 community cads to form any combination with the 2 cards that the player holds to make a poker hand. The player with the highest hand wins the pot.
In a game of Texas Holdem all player compete for the pot (the pot is the amount of money or bets contributed by all the players). The cards are dealt by the dealer and each players bet is based on the hand the player holds. During the game there are a series of hands dealt and at the end of each hand the pot is awarded to the player with the highest hand.
